MetaKoopa99's Ballot for Week 7 of 2019-20| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Kansas
|
(+2) The trend continues: A different team is at the top of my rankings each week. KU gets No. 1 with the OSU loss. College hoops is wild. |
| 2 |
Gonzaga
|
(+4) Zags quietly have one of the best résumés in all of college basketball. Three wins over the Pac-12's very best and a "quality loss." |
| 3 |
Duke
|
(+4) Can't believe the team that lost to Stephen F. Austin just weeks ago is already back up to No. 3 in my rankings. College hoops is wild. |
| 4 |
Ohio State
|
(-3) Finally getting to where losses don't cause teams to drop massively in my rankings. Other highly-ranked teams losing helps though... |
| 5 |
Louisville
|
(-3) Same drop for Louisville as for OSU. Difference-maker being OSU has a slightly stronger résumé (wins over Nova/UNC/PSU vs. Michigan). |
| 6 |
Kentucky
|
(+2) Still not in love with Kentucky but as we all know, wins are wins, and you generally move up if you win. That's true for the Cats here. |
| 7 |
Virginia
|
(+2) Ditto for Virginia. Interesting considering they didn't play a game this week, but that's what happens when highly-ranked teams lose. |
| 8 |
San Diego State
|
(+2) Yup, another one. Just like Virginia, SDSU didn't play a game this week. Strategy worked. They're still undefeated and they moved up. |
| 9 |
Baylor
|
(+4) First top-10 appearance for Baylor. One of the best résumés with wins over Nova, Zona, and now Butler. Yes, Scott Drew can coach. |
| 10 |
Dayton
|
(+2) Dayton out here killing teams. Beat Drake by 31. Still waiting for that résumé-boosting Quad 1 win, but they pass the eye test easily. |
| 11 |
Maryland
|
(-7) Seven spots is pretty harsh for their first loss to a good team on the road, but that's just how it works sometimes. They'll rebound. |
| 12 |
Auburn
|
(-1) Pretty clear separation between spots 12 and 13 right now IMO. Auburn is the last of the top-tier teams thanks to that 9-0 record. |
| 13 |
Oregon
|
(+5) The best two-loss team and it's not close. Damn fine performance against Michigan. Also, Payton Pritchard is finally breaking out. |
| 14 |
Memphis
|
(+8) Really liking this Memphis team right now. Just knocked off Tennessee in Knoxville without Wiseman. Seems like the Tigers are legit. |
| 15 |
West Virginia
|
(+6) I might have dropped WVU too much after the St. John's loss. They backed it up with back-to-back wins of 26+ points. WVU looks good. |
| 16 |
Michigan
|
(-11) I typically wouldn't put a three-loss team this high, especially one that lost twice in the last week, but I can't ignore the résumé. |
| 17 |
Florida State
|
(+3) FSU gets the "Kentucky treatment." Didn't play this week but still moves up. Great résumé though. Wins over UF, Tennessee and Purdue. |
| 18 |
Butler
|
(-3) Usually I wouldn't drop a team for a one-point loss on the road to Baylor, but Butler once trailed by 16. Made it a game at the end. |
| 19 |
Arizona
|
(-5) Admittedly a pretty weak résumé so far. Kinda gave Gonzaga a scare late so they don't fall too far. They still trailed by 16 though. |
| 20 |
Wichita State
|
(+5) If you haven't been paying attention to WSU, now's the time to start. Back-to-back wins over Big 12 opponents. Big game with VCU next. |
| 21 |
Tennessee
|
(-5) Have lost by a combined seven points to two top teams and have wins over two borderline top 25 teams (VCU/Wash). Can't drop them out. |
| 22 |
Villanova
|
(+1) Didn't really seem to be in danger against Delaware but it was closer than you would have liked to see. Nova welcomes Kansas next. |
| 23 |
Texas
|
(+1) Central Michigan certainly had their number for a while but they figured it out. The Purdue win keeps the Longhorns in my rankings. |
| 24 |
VCU
|
(NEW) Xavier and Colorado fall out of the rankings with bad losses, so there's room for VCU to return. Said it before: Big game vs. WSU. |
| 25 |
Stanford
|
(NEW) 9-1 via dismantling of OU and one-point loss to Butler. Ranked! Next 5: Marquette, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Liberty, Washington |
