HickeysBay's Ballot for Week 11 of 2017-18| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Villanova
|
(1) Crushed Xavier at home and got a solid win @St. John's. They have separated themselves from the rest of the country. |
| 2 |
Purdue
|
(4) Scraped by Michigan and demolished Minnesota. As of right now, they are clearly the best team in the B1G. |
| 3 |
Oklahoma
|
(9) Handled a great Texas Tech team and beat a good TCU team. They are my favorites to win the Big 12. |
| 4 |
Texas Tech
|
(5) Win over WVU outweighs the loss to OU. If the offense were more consistent, you might be looking at the best team in the country. |
| 5 |
West Virginia
|
(2) Can't punish them too much for losing on the road to Tech. The drop is more about the eye test than anything. Haven't looked dominant. |
| 6 |
Virginia
|
(7) They jump Duke simply because I reconsidered. I think UVa's awesome defense is more reliable than Duke's awesome offense. |
| 7 |
Duke
|
(6) Got a couple of ACC wins over lower tier teams. As I said earlier, they drop behind UVa because I think UVa's defense is more reliable. |
| 8 |
Michigan State
|
(3) Scraped by Buttgers at home and followed it up with a loss to UMich at home. They aren't playing like a top 10 team right now. |
| 9 |
Xavier
|
(8) Got pummeled on the road by the best team in the nation Nova, but rebounded by pummeling a very good Creighton team at home. |
| 10 |
Wichita State
|
(11) Won both of their games this week. They move up a slot. |
| 11 |
Kansas
|
(13) Beat a couple Big 12 bottom dwellers (who are still really good) in ISU and KSU. Defense is still a bit shaky. |
| 12 |
Auburn
|
(14) Undefeated in a very good SEC. Auburn keeps moving on up. |
| 13 |
Cincinnati
|
(15) I don't like moving teams up for beating garbage squads like USF, but that's what I'm doing this week with Cincinnati. |
| 14 |
Clemson
|
(16) The win over Miami outweighs the loss to NC State. With some other teams losing, Clemson moves up. |
| 15 |
North Carolina
|
(19) Road wins over Notre Dame are hard to come by. They move up a bit. |
| 16 |
Seton Hall
|
(12) Got creamed by Marquette on the road and handled BE bottomfeeder Georgetown. They fall a bit. |
| 17 |
Tennessee
|
(20) I love this Tennessee squad. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they win the SEC. |
| 18 |
Arizona
|
(22) Got a couple wins, so they move up. They still don't look like they are getting everything out of the talent they have. |
| 19 |
Arizona State
|
(10) Lost to a bad Oregon team and nearly lost to an awful Oregon St team both at home. Haven't looked anything near a top 25 team lately. |
| 20 |
Michigan
|
(UR) Road wins over MSU are hard to come by, especially this year. Michigan moves into the rankings. |
| 21 |
Gonzaga
|
(21) Probably won't move until they play St. Mary's or BYU. |
| 22 |
Creighton
|
(18) Got pummeled by Xavier but also beat a pretty good Butler team. When they are clicking, their offense is elite. |
| 23 |
TCU
|
(17) They are victims of the Big 12, but top 25 teams should beat Texas. |
| 24 |
Kentucky
|
(24) Two wins over struggling teams in Vanderbilt and TAMU. They stay where they are. |
| 25 |
Ohio State
|
26. Louisville 27. St. Mary's 28. Miami 29. FSU 30. URI 31. Notre Dame 32. Kansas State 33. Virginia Tech 34. Nevada 35. NMSU |
