MetaKoopa99's Ballot for Week 2 of 2018-19| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Duke
|
Oh my sweet Jesus. Barrett, Reddish, and Williamson are out here breaking college basketball. The ACC is a scary place to be right now. |
| 2 |
Kansas
|
They only drop a spot in my rankings by virtue of Duke dropping on Kentucky like an atomic bomb. Dedric Lawson is an animal. |
| 3 |
Gonzaga
|
No change here. I know it's only early season, but 100 points in back-to-back games is still impressive. This offense is roaring. |
| 4 |
Virginia
|
That classic UVA defense is still looking as fine as ever. Add in some great offensive play from Ty Jerome and this is one good team. |
| 5 |
Tennessee
|
Grant Williams is about to have himself another great year. And look, top team in the SEC! You can thank Duke for that, Vols. |
| 6 |
Nevada
|
After a somewhat slow start against BYU, Martin & Martin is back in action. And that Jordan Caroline guy is pretty good too. |
| 7 |
North Carolina
|
A tiny scare from Wofford, but still looking very solid with that Elon thrashing. Nassir Little is the best bench player in the country. |
| 8 |
Villanova
|
For as much as the Wildcats lost, they seem just fine with the new look. Looking forward to Wednesday's rematch! |
| 9 |
Auburn
|
A ranked win over Washington has Bruce Pearl's squad looking good early on. Still plenty to go though. Keep it rolling, Tigers! |
| 10 |
Kansas State
|
A couple losses here and there and wouldn't you know it, top 10 K-State. This defense is looking sharp. Offense? Let's pick it up, shall we? |
| 11 |
Kentucky
|
Oof, Duke freshmen boomed them (x4). And that win against SIU wasn't totally convincing either. But fret not, Wildcats! The season is young. |
| 12 |
Oregon
|
I was initially a bit lower on the Ducks than most to start the season, but I'm changing my tune after these first two games. Bol Bol balls! |
| 13 |
Syracuse
|
Not much to say about the Orange, other than Tyus Battle can ball, but we knew that. Looking forward to a defensive battle against UVA. |
| 14 |
Florida State
|
Move up by virtue of other teams losing. But the Seminoles deserve their ranking. The ACC is going to be one heck of a show this year. |
| 15 |
Michigan State
|
Tough loss to Kansas, but the Spartans will land on their feet. A triple-digit victory on Sunday over FGCU is a nice start. |
| 16 |
Virginia Tech
|
Gotta drop the Hokies a few spots with Chris Clarke suspended indefinitely. But Friday's domination of Gardner-Webb shows they may be fine. |
| 17 |
Indiana
|
I'm high on the Hoosiers. It's still early, but Indiana looks deep. Outscoring their first two opponents 184-90 has me believing. |
| 18 |
Michigan
|
Congrats on 800, Coach B! Number 802's going to be tricky though if they're gunning for Nova. Wednesday's highlight game? |
| 19 |
UCLA
|
Perhaps UCLA isn't as solid as I thought they'd be considering that eking out of a victory over LBSU. Still plenty of season to go though. |
| 20 |
Mississippi State
|
Not much to say about the Bulldogs, other than Quinndary Weatherspoon can ball, but we knew that. Wait, I used that line already, didn't I? |
| 21 |
Clemson
|
Lawdy, this is going to be one ridiculous ACC. Some real tests coming up though with Nebraska and Mississippi State in the next few weeks. |
| 22 |
Purdue
|
I still like the Boilermakers, though Saturday's game vs. Ball State doesn't have me convinced yet. Edwards needs a bit more support. |
| 23 |
Marquette
|
Ooh, these Golden Eagles look good. Markus Howard is a man. If not for Michigan-Nova, Marquette-Indiana would be Wednesday's premier game. |
| 24 |
LSU
|
Eh, they let UNCG get a little too close for comfort, but the Tigers still look solid out of the gate. Is Memphis a trap game? You decide. |
| 25 |
Buffalo
|
Too early? Nah! WVU falls out and UB takes their spot. Seems fair to me. Not to mention Loyola's out too. We need another mid-major in! |
