1 University of Michigan Logo Michigan I rank mostly based on resume. Michigan’s is top-tier. Past few games not great, but still Ws of course.
2 Duke University Logo Duke Only #2 due to a close loss to Gonzaga. But Michigan has just been too good to get jumped.
3 University of Virginia Logo Virginia Haven’t done anything wrong this year, just Duke and Michigan’s resumes are slightly better.
4 University of Kansas Logo Kansas Forgivable loss at ASU, especially considering an injury to an essential player, but they haven’t looked that good.
5 University of Oklahoma Logo Oklahoma I rank mostly by resumes. It’s harder to get many strong wins than a few marquee wins. #1 resume by WAB. 8/12 games neutral or away
6 Gonzaga University Logo Gonzaga
7 Michigan State University Logo Michigan State
8 University of Nevada, Reno Logo Nevada
9 University of Wisconsin-Madison Logo Wisconsin Still a top tier resume. #8 in WAB, #10 in SOR.
10 University of Tennessee Logo Tennessee Impressive in their win over Gonzaga and their loss to Kansas, but other games not as impressive. Resume not top 10 but eye test is.
11 Ohio State University Logo Ohio State Big drop-off after Tennesee at 10. 11-18 are all pretty close, a “tier”. None of them seem to deserve the #11 spot.
12 Auburn University Logo Auburn Questionable games versus UAB and Murray State. But still Ws.
13 Mississippi State University Logo Mississippi State
14 University at Buffalo Logo Buffalo Going 1-1 @ Cuse and Marq is a net-positive for any team’s resume (except those that aren’t the top 5 or 10 or so). Up from 19 last week.
15 Florida State University Logo Florida State
16 Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Logo Virginia Tech
17 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Logo Nebraska
18 Texas Tech University Logo Texas Tech They’re probably better than 18. But resume just isn’t that good. Held with Duke for a while, but some serious flaws at PG were apparent.
19 Indiana University Bloomington Logo Indiana
20 University of Houston Logo Houston Probably not that great, but still one of the best resumes in the country (yes, that’s possible w/ a weak schedule when you win your games)
21 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Logo North Carolina A very good team, and have played tough competition, but their weak resume has dropped them (strong SoS =/= strong resume). They’re 8-3.
22 North Carolina State University Logo NC State
23 Marquette University Logo Marquette Some good wins, but their whole body of work isn’t deserving of anything more than 23.
24 Arizona State University Logo Arizona State #26: Iowa State 27: Cincy 28: Iowa 29: Kentucky Re UK: terrible resume. 1 top tier win doesn’t change fact that 2nd best win is home vs 117.
25 St. John's University Logo St. John's Probably not that good, but still one of the better resumes in the country (yes, that’s possible w/ a weak schedule when you win your games)
